GET TO KNOW
PEYTON LOCICERO-TRIST

PEYTON LOCICERO AT THE DESK

Award winning news anchor and journalist Peyton LoCicero-Trist, is part of the popular GOOD MORNING NEW ORLEANS morning show team on ABC TV's WGNO, a Nexstar broadcasting station.  New Orleanians wake up, each weekday, to Peyton's sunny disposition and rely on her for their news headlines.

With her finger firmly planted on the pulse of Crescent City happenings, combined with her infectious love of everything and anything New Orleans, Peyton quickly became a fan favorite among viewers. She co-hosts WGNO's News With A Twist Weekend Show. Peyton was awarded a New Orleans Press Club Award in 2019.

Peyton was born in Louisiana and is a fifth generation New Orleanian. Previously, she was the bureau chief and reporter for ABC affiliate, WMBB News 13 in the Destin-Panama City, Florida area.

Her career in journalism began at The University of Mississippi, serving as a feature reporter for News Watch 99 and as an event reporter for WTVA, in Tupelo, Mississippi. Previously, she worked as a personal assistant to legendary Chef Emeril Lagasse and his wife, Alden. Peyton is also the co-founder of Frill Seekers Gifts, a national gift brand and boutique.

Peyton received the prestigious 2019 Dick Fletcher Excellence in Media Award for her Hurricane Michael coverage before, during and after the storm devastated the majority of WMBB’s viewing area. She was recognized for her ability to “rally” and motivate the surrounding communities, after the storm, to help provide critical help and resources to those hit hardest by the hurricane.

In presenting this award to her, at the National Governor’s Hurricane Conference, Ms. LoCicero was recognized for her “outstanding efforts to educate and inform the public about hurricanes and hurricane preparedness, response, recovery in the state of Florida. Ms. LoCicero demonstrated exceptional skills as a broadcast journalist, by communicating information during a catastrophic national weather event, by making it understandable to the layperson, with an on air persona that exudes confidence and creates an atmosphere of trust with all of her audience, while providing life-saving information.”

"Meteorologists, newscasters and news organizations from across the state of Florida, were nominated for this honor, making the entire WMBB news team proud that our own reporter, Peyton LoCicero, was chosen as the 2019 Dick Fletcher Excellence in Media award winner. Peyton single-handedly represented WMBB during Hurricane Michael, when we physically couldn’t,” said Tom Lewis, WMBB News Director. She was also nominated for the Florida Public Relations Association’s Social Impact Image Award, Emerald Coast.

When she is not in the newsroom, you'll find Peyton at horse shows competing in the Hunter/Jumper division, shopping on Magazine Street, cheering on her New Orleans SAINTS, LSU Tigers or Ole Miss Rebels (unless they're playing each, in which case, she will cheer for the Rebs!), the New Orleans Pelicans or volunteering for one of the causes closest to her heart. She serves as a volunteer for the Boys Hope/Girls Hope of New Orleans, Shuck Cancer events, helps the Save UnderDogs Rescue Group, Second Harvest of New Orleans and supports the Lupus Foundation. She is president of the Ole Miss Alumni Association, Emerald Coast chapter, a member of the Miss Destin Organization, a member of the Florida Public Relations Association, the Destin Fishing Rodeo and is a Kappa Delta alum.

Peyton, rescued a mini Schnauzer/Yorkie mix after Hurricane Michael and named
